I had to remove these files:
$HOME/News/agent/nntp/$SERVER/comp/lang/lisp/{.agentview,.overview}
where gnus was spending all the time.

The "bug" being in gnus-agent-save-alist which cannot be interrupted
(C-g inneffective) while it's saving .agentview.
