gnus with xemacs gamma (21.4.) how?

Well, taking it from the positive side, who has got which version of
gnus up and running with xemacs 21.4.6 (gamma) and, if it required
tweaking, how do you do it? Even with -q and -no-site-file switches set
when starting xemacs 21.4.6, doing M-x gnus consistently crashes xemacs
(gnus 5.8.8, packaged with xemacs 21.4.6) on my GNU/Linux i386
system. Thanks!

That's useful .. but not very.  :-)  The diff is over 10MB, and when
Gnus is involved, you can't say "that code over there doesn't matter",
'cause Gnus exercises it _all_.

With programs like Gnus, who needs test suites?

Would add that until now xemacs-21.4.6 has not ¨dumped a 'core' file¨
from these crashes. Is there some way I can force xemacs to do so?
