I use Gnus for newsgroups and mail, and I use the nnml backend. In the ~/Mail directory there are a directory for each nnml group, and I've moved 2 groups to another filesystem, replacing the original directories with 2 symlinks to the directories on the other filesystem. So, I received a duplicate, a message that goes to a group on a filesystem and a group on another filesystem, so Gnus tries to do a symlink from the 1st group to the 2nd, and it gives the following message: nnml-save-mail: Adding new name: invalid cross-device link, /home/marco/Mail/cm-crew-admin/155, /home/marco/Mail/mbox/99 I know that I can set Gnus to make it to save the 2 messages and not to use a symlink, but I think that it should behave differently: IMHO it should renounce to do a symlink and should save the 2 messages, and it should give a warning and not an error. emacs-version: GNU Emacs 21.3.50.2 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) of 2003-03-13 on marc0host.dyndns.org (from the CVS) Gnus is the one distributed with Emacs: gnus-version: Gnus v5.9.0 Why someone would have some groups on another fs? So he can have the personal mail on a cryptographic filesystem and the mailing lists on faster, bigger, non-cryptographic filesystem.
