Well I tried out all possible values for 
 mm-text-html-renderer  without any result.

Did you really try (setq mm-text-html-renderer nil) as well?

In which case it would use an external viewer, which is not really
what I want, since then I could use seamonkey and the like any how.

Ok in this case I think screenshots say more than 1000 words
I attach in my next post 2 screenshots the gnus one (almost empty) and
the one using seamonkey.

The screen shots show the result.  But without sending us the
(anonymized?) HTML mail, I don't think anyone can help.

Well I thought of forwarding that mail but I receive a complain lines
longer than 79 chars and I was afraid that the format might be broken
I try to save the message and send it as an attachment. If you have
any better suggestion please let me know.

Probably, the least error prone way is to use
`gnus-summary-save-article-mail' ([1], C-o, O m, <menu-bar> <Article>
<Output> <Save in Unix mail format...>), gzip the resulting file and
send it as attachment.  Other user can save it to disk and open it
e.g. using `G f' or `G M'.

[1] If you use nnml or have file system access to your IMAP server
    (assuming it is using a one-file-per-message format), you can skip
    saving to mbox file, of course.

So you screen shot (gnus-campus.png) in

Gnus to prefer the text/plain part over text/html.  See (info
"(emacs-mime)Display Customization") for relevant options.

How do you do this, that is the way I would prefer to have things.

That documentation is huge and for me it is not easy to find out the
necessary parameters, could you just tell me your configuration?

I agree and I'd like to change the relevant defaults to the most
suitable values.  But it's hard to figure out what most people find
useful.

So I am wondering whether the problem has to do with Xemacs (21.4.19
Mule) or with the gnus version.

I tried to use a more recent version but could not send even messages,

Hi Reiner,

I was looking for something like this, and I happened to stumble upon it
by reading old gnu.emacs.gnus posts.  Thanks for the suggestion to add
"multipart/alternative" to the buttonized types! :)

After seeing this *and* rereading the manual, I noticed it's already one
of the suggestions:
