It looks like some external command is segfaulting, but nnmaildir
doesn't run any external commands.

Ah.  That means this article is coming from the cache, not nnmaildir.
nnmaildir confuses the cache because of article renumbering, so
removing the article from the cache might require a little creativity.

That might be gpg as the message is signed.

Hem, the problem is I've never setup any caching mecanism for gnus...
Is there a default cahing mecanism ? I thought that by default gnus
wouldn't cache anything ? I'm willing to destroy all cache data if it
can help, I have a fast connection.

Ok, I found a copy of the original message, the sent message contained
that command, so no worry about that.

Forget it, I solved that, thanks to your comment : 
Article -> Cache -> Remove did the trick. I was not aware of that
feature, and must have cached the article by accident.
