It must be a gnus bug: the following gnus-posting-styles only puts my
Chinese name in the header if I use 'C-u a' in the group buffer. If I
just use 'a' and then type the group name, I get my English name.
(setq gnus-posting-styles '(
(".*"
(name "my English name"))
("^tw\\."
(name "my Chinese name"))))
my actual gnus.el is in http://jidanni.org/comp/gnus_el.txt

If it does,
(setq
message-generate-headers-first t)
SHOULD make all your news and mail headers according to the relavant
posting styles when you hit 'a'.
Though it should be changing to match posting styles when you send
it.
