Nope. If you have an .authinfo(.gpg) file, most network functions will
inspect it to see whether there's any "force" entries in the file.

:(
Can I request this feature, then?

Set up a gpg agent so that you don't have to enter the gpg password all
the time, if you want to use the .gpg file.

I already set up one, in a way that I need to enter it on the
first startup of Gnus in this boot.
However I think it's better to be able to bypass the checking of
existence of a server, or at least, bypass the default .authinfo
file when a (nntp-authinfo-file) is specified. I would assume
this parameter tells Gnus to find its authinfo in that file, and
skipping default files. I set that to "/dev/null", but useless.

It's an obsolete variable.
See the auth-source variables instead.

I have a local leafnode server which doesn't need authentication,
and a .authinfo.gpg containing info for sending a mail. Now I'm
prompted for a password on Gnus startup, which is quite bothering
--- can I tell Gnus that this server *never* needs authentication
and don't look for authinfo entries?
Thank you.
