This is exactly what I got
;;; Editing the group info for `nndraft:drafts'.
;; Type `C-c C-c' after you've finished editing.

("nndraft:drafts" 1 nil nil
 (nndraft "")
 ((gnus-dummy
   (gnus-draft-mode))))

When I user "^", I got this

     {nnfolder:archive} (closed)
     {nndraft:} (opened)
     {nnml:} (opened)
     {nntp:news-text.blueyonder.co.uk} (opened)

When I use "O" the box beeps at me, so I think that I am not doing
what you want and I may have misunderstood you.

I am also loath to upgrade outside the Debian Woody packages. My
newness is an all round thing, and I want stable and when I need help
with something else, I can say the box is exclusivly Debian stable and
any problem lies within that sphere.
