In a working Rmail environment, put your cursor at the end of the following line, type C-x C-e, and send us the output. (describe-variable 'rmail-primary-inbox-list) (If you think about it some, the output of the above command, along with the gnus FAQ, should give you the information you need to get email working with gnus.
