What is your setup?

For example,

1.  What protocol for mail pickup, i.e., "imap", or "pop", or
    "webmail", ...?

2.  What gnus mail backend are you using?

3.  Is it correct that you are NOT running gnus as system
    administrator?

have you solved the problem? I am aware of the problem since my
transition from an external news server to a local leafnode. I guess
there is an interdependency. Any hints are greatly appreciated.
