This may be the case here. After all this testing and retesting I
think one of the Mandrake guys did something deep inside the config
files of emacs that is causing this chaos here. Maybe he wanted to do
something good for us europeans by this but he did not.

I'll try without this line. If it takes much longer I may switch to
slrn and vim!
(Shhhh! This line was meant to threaten my emacs!)
