I've recently had some strangeness show up in browsing my nnimap
groups. Gnus will report that I have a new message in a folder
(splitting is handled by procmail on the mail server), but when I
enter the group, there will be no new messages.
Today, after requesting a web site send my forgotten password, I had
the same thing happen. After a while, I was wondering why the
password e-mail had not yet arrived. I looked at the procmail log
thinking maybe it had hit a filter and gone into the bit-bucket. But
the procmail log showed it had been delivered to my inbox. I opened
the mailbox in Emacs and low and behold, there it is. Exiting Emacs
and restarting isnt' getting me the message.
I've now inspected a few other mailboxes where this had happened and
found that, yes, indeed, they do have some messages there that I
hadn't yet seen.
So, how can I go about tracing this to find where the fault lies, Gnus
(10.5.6), or my imap server?
regards,
roland
