Subject: entering a group with many articles is dead slow
Date: 24 May 2003 23:54:13 -0400	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <m38ysvu1ei.fsf@loiso.podval.org> (raw)

Entering a group with, say, a 1000 articles is awful slow.
I suspect that the reason is the check for duplicates.
How do I disable it?
gnus-summary-ignore-duplicates?
gnus-suppress-duplicates?
what else?

PS. Gnus reports 39558 articles in my INBOX (actually, I only have 167
messages there). In particular, this means that there is no way for
me to enter the group (see above). There have been plenty of talk
about making Gnus re-index an imap folder. Has anything been done?
