Perhaps the foreign groups are on a level that aren't activated?

This is how I download new articles:
emacs -batch -l ~/.gnus.el -f gnus-agent-batch-fetch
The main server is aioe.org, and the foreign server is gmane.org.
Both servers are agentified.
It "updates marks" for both aioe and the foreign server (gmane), but
only downloads articles for aioe.org.
Why doesn't gnus download articles from the foreign server?
