Recently, articles in all groups, but most especially gnu.emacs.misc
and gnu.emacs.gnus, have started to `forget' that they are read.  That
is, I'll get new articles and suddenly a formerly-read newsgroup will
have many of the old articles back--sometimes articles quite some time
ago, sometimes one from the last time I was there.

I'm running 5.8.8, if it helps.  Thanks much.
