(unless (eq window-system nil) (setq gnus-sum-thread-tree-root "►") (setq gnus-sum-thread-tree-leaf-with-other "├─►") (setq gnus-sum-thread-tree-single-leaf "└─►") (setq gnus-sum-thread-tree-vertical "│")) (setq gnus-sum-thread-tree-single-indent " ") and then including %B in gnus-summary-line-format like in (setq gnus-summary-line-format ":%U%R%B %s %-79= │%4L │%-21,21f │%&user-date;\n") (If you write the unicode characters verbatim in .gnus, remember to put the lines ;; -*- emacs-lisp -*- ;;coding: mule-utf-8-unix at the top of .gnus so Emacs knows it's Unicode.) -- Did you ever realize how much text fits in eighty columns? If you now consider that a signature usually consists of up to four lines, this gives you enough space to spread a tremendous amount of information with your messages. So seize this opportunity and don't waste your signature with bullshit nobody will read.
