I compiled and use w3m on winxp... what errors did you get?  You could
probably find an already compiled for windows binary of w3m somewhere
on the net as well.

Actually, OE by default does send two versions of the message -- a plain
text one and a HTML-formatted one. At least, it did some time ago. You
can just look at the former. =))

I believe, Emacs/W3 works on XEmacs/Win32, so this problem seems to be a
bug of GNU Emacs and/or Emacs/W3. So, report it.
