I have subscribed to my IMAP inbox. But since all mail was read it
does not show up anymore in the main gnus group list. Is there a way
to tell gnus that it should also show mailboxes that have zero unread
emails so that I can open the mailbox and look at old emails?

Try to press "L" in the group buffer

Hi,

you may also customize your group properties (cursor on the respective
line in the group buffer):

  G c runs the command gnus-group-customize
which is an interactive autoloaded Lisp function in `gnus-cus'.
  It is bound to G c, <menu-bar> <Group> <Customize>.
[Arg list not available until function definition is loaded.]

  Not documented.

Toggle

  [ ] Permanently visible
Always display this group, even when there are no unread articles in it.

and leave the customize buffer with "done".

Cheers

Martin
