Hello

Sorry for the double posting, it is never clear to me, whether to use
gmane.emacs.gnus.user or gmane.emacs.gnus.general

This seems odd, the iso-8859-1 charset is displayed correctly in the
From field.
However in the summary buffer is looks like
=?iso-8859-1?Q?Jos=E9_M
I have set via customise

* Charset: iso-8859-1
The default charset to use in the group.

So it should work, but it does not.

Anybody has an idea?

thanks

I should add the sender's charset is displayed alright. It is the
recipient which causes the problem

I have the following setting
Variables:
Set variables local to the group you are entering. *
[INS] [DEL] Variable: gnus-summary-line-format
            Value:
"%U%R%z%I%N %(%[ %-20,20n%]%) %-23,23~(form (gnus-extra-header 'To))@

%d %k %L   %s
"
[INS]

If it is not for gmane.emacs.gnus.user then it goes to g.e.g.general.

`gnus-extra-header' returns raw contents of a header, i.e., it's
not been decoded. Replace (gnus-extra-header 'To) with:

(rfc2047-decode-string (gnus-extra-header 'To))

It might slow Gnus, though.

Thanks very much, that solved the problem!

gmane.emacs.gnus.user = info-gnus-english@gnu.org = gnu.emacs.gnus

gmane.emacs.gnus.general = ding@gnus.org

  geg.general would have better be named .devel to avoid confusion,
  but renaming groups on Gmane is not supported.

Bye, Reiner.
