M-x apropos RET active.*file RET

This will find interesting stuff, I think.  Also don't forget the
index search:

C-h i d         enter root of info system
m Gnus RET      enter Gnus info file
i               index search
active.*file    regexp
RET             finish

Does a F (Find new newsgroups) before you u help?
