mdocml version 1.11.1 available

mdocml version 1.11.1 available

Hello,

I'm pleased to announce mdocml 1.11.1, now at http://mdocml.bsd.lv/. 
This is the first minor-number bump in quite some time.  It's due to the 
considerable re-structuring of the backend into a single interface, 
mandoc.3.  A significant number of other fixes, improvements, and minor 
features have also been committed.

For a full list of changes, see http://mdocml.bsd.lv/archives/source/. 
An abbreviated list of changes is on the NEWS section of the web-site.

As usual, sources are at http://mdocml.bsd.lv/snapshots/mdocml.tar.gz.

The build is breaking with gmake:

mdocml-1.11.1$ make
make: *** No rule to make target `mdoc.h', needed by `html.o'.  Stop.

Is this to be expected?

Goddamnit.  I hadn't checked whether I could build from the tarball and 
had forgotten some files.

This is fixed and I re-tagged and re-pushed out the tarball... hope 
nobody notices this little snafu.  (Don't tell.)

Thomas,

mdoc.3, man.3, and roff.3 have been removed in favour of mandoc.3 (as of 
Makefile 1.317).  Your downstream Makefile is probably out of date...

Ah true, sorry for the false alarm.

We had a manual install target... while removing that, I found two
issues:

PREFIX is set with =, please use ?= to set it.
LIBDIR is not created.

I've added the LIBDIR mkdir---thanks!

As for the PREFIX ?=, this has been discussed before.  The previous 
Makefile also used "PREFIX =", and I remember ?= causing problems across 
different systems.  The PREFIX = was introduced in revision 1.270 by 
Joerg.  Joerg, can you comment on this?

?= is not portable make syntax. Just override it with MAKE_FLAGS...

I've fixed it differently, per Joerg's suggestion, so you can forget
about this part.
