Hello,

Newly released macOS Ventura (version 13) comes with mandoc 1.14.5 included.

I couldn't find any official release information and the sources aren't
available on https://opensource.apple.com/releases/ yet so no direct
links yet.

Also, while there, 'MacOS X' -> 'macOS' official name changed with
the release of macOS Sierra (version 10.12) in 2016 so call it as
such and update the main URL which always redirects to the latest
release.

Regards,

Raf

If you already have that installed, can you please try
running that version of mandoc on groffer.1?

/System/Volumes/Data/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/SDKs/MacOSX12.3.sdk/usr/share/man/man1/groffer.1

In my previous attempts to replace the system man with mandoc,
it always choked on that.

(A message in arm@openbsd.org (I think) warned that macOS 13
installs some new firmware that creates problems for the
multibooting OpenBSD on M1 macbooks, so I'm still on macOS 12.)

They seem to gradually replace part of the system with BSD stuff:
pf, mdoc(5) manpages, now mandoc itself; that's good news.

Looks OK at a quick glance.

This one's an Intel Mac which only runs macOS.

Yes, Apple's GPL purge has been in motion for a while now.
