untrue, gcc 4.7 which was released a couple weeks ago and the upcoming
gdb 7.5 are the first to support x32.
the kernel supports it since a few months.
this is all brand-new, and definitely not "stable" yet.
i haven't yet seen a x32 distro yet, so anybody using it already lives
on bleeding edge.
