Wow: "that columns believes"  ;o)  is there a specialist for parapsychology out there? Hans?

The appendix from which these examples come from is quite big and there a dozens of situations like the one shown above: Suddenly there is a little bit more space above, sometimes more sometimes less. But there is no rule, no structure. 

I tried to throw in some vskip to adjust it manually ... but after 3 hours I gave up: you never get the right distance.


So is there a handy work around to get rid off that column's cranky believe?
