no time now but you can do this instead of the lmt_text:

     draw lmt_outline [
         text = "\bf\strut #1",
         kind = "fillup",
         fillcolor = "white",
         rulethickness = rulesize,
     ];

(maybe spaces creep in due to loading font files / setups or so)
