HI

I have been reading lang-ita.tex to see how a language is
defined. There are some errors. I have compare the translation with those
done by Javier Bezos in
spanish for babel ( he has studied spanish typesetting to build the style)

line 149
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!tabellen=Tablas] instead of Tablas --> Cuadros
line 156
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!figuren=Ilustraci\'ons]
                                               ^^^ (liustraciones
instead of Ilustraciones --> Figuras

line 170
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!intermezzos=intermedios]
I don't know what is
the propuouse of "intermezzos." Can you explain
for what are used? (i can't find it in the manual)

line 184
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!afkortingen=Abreviaci\'ons]
                                                   ^^^Abreviaciones

line 198
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!eenheden=Unidads]
                                         ^^ Unidades

line 205
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!tabel=Tablas ]
Here i think is the singular
for Tabla, but Javier recomended Cuadro
instead of Tablas --> Cuadro

line 212
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!figuur=Ilustraci\'on ]

instead of Ilustraci\'on --> Figura
line 219
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!intermezzo=intermedio ]
intermezzo????

line 308
\setuplabeltext [\s!es]   [\v!january=jenero] jenero --> enero

line 316
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!september=septimbre] septimbre --> septiembre

line 319
\setuplabeltext [\s!es]  [\v!december=deciembre] deciembre --> diciembre

This is all (for the moment :-), i've to read what are the meaning of
the other things, for quotes and so on.)

thanks in advance

So, you suggest:

\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!tabellen=Cuadros]
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!figuren=Figuras]
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!intermezzos=intermedios]
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!afkortingen=Abreviaci\'ones]
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!eenheden=Unidades]

\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!tabel=Cuadro ]
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!figuur=Figura ]
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!intermezzo=intermedio ]    % for instance some
intermdiate (often framed) textual intermezzo
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!january=enero]
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!september=septiembre]
\setuplabeltext [\s!es] [\v!december=diciembre]

Are there other spanish users out there who disagree? If not, i'll patch ...

Abreviaci\'ones is not correct. Put Abreviaciones.

I think, the only problem is with the traslation of tabel/tablen. The old
traslation in Babel and used in technical wrting is tabla/tablas (I suposs
for direct traslation of enghish). The new traslation
(cuadoro/cuadros) made by Javier Bezos is more general ( I think,
especially in ConTeXt) is not dificult to define a new float named tabla
if anybody want to use instead of cuadoro.

I would suggest
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!afkortingen=Abreviaturas]
instead of
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!afkortingen=Abreviaci\'ones]

Anyway, if you choose the second option, it should be
\setupheadtext [\s!es] [\v!afkortingen=Abreviaciones]

This is my first message to the list. Just say congratulations: context
is a great piece of work.

Jerónimo.

I solve this problem in basque for babel with the following definition of
"-

declare@shorthand{basque}{"-}{\nobreak\discretionary{-}{-}{-}\bbl@allowhyphens}

The trick is done by \discretionary (TeX internal). The three arguments
are pre, post, nohypen text. When there is a hypenation in this point
in the firs line is put pre, and post in the next line. If there is no
hypenation nohypen text is put.

For patches that are not too huge (they won't be probably ;) send them
simply to this list or directly to Hans Hagen.

Well, you need to create/copy+modify the
  \installlanguage, \setupheadtext and \setuplabeltext
lines in lang-*.tex. The ISO 639-2 language code is 'eu'.
If we follow the current syntax by grouping by language family, you
should probably create lang-baq.tex (or lang-bas.tex, lang-eus.tex).

I don't know whether this can be done automatically, but you can use
  anai|_|arrebak to create the desired effect (see supp-lan.tex).

Hi to all!

I am new to ConTeXt and list and i want to stay for log!

I have been rading lang-ita.tex and I see some error. I have post in
comp.text.tex and Giuseppe Bilotta has sugest to send a patch to this
list. I don't know how can i send the patch (a diff output is enough).

 What is an intermezzo for? I don't know if the traslation is ok.

I'm also interested in adding basque language. Basque is not a romance
language, but the typesetting is very similar to spanish. Some
differences:

1) Instead of Chpater 1 -- in basque ---> 1 Kapitulua (Chapter)
2) When hypenating a compound word in the hypen, in the next line a hypen
is also necesary

anai-arrebak is hypendated

anai-
-arrebak

2) What files have i to change to add support for basque?

Thanks in advance

Zunbeltz
