Hi Hans,
you write a while ago the macro \doifigureelse but to bad it's not working
and it gives me always the true value.
\setupexternalfigures[location=global]
\starttext
\doiffigureelse{cow}{\externalfigure[cow]}{Not found}
\doiffigureelse{kuh}{\externalfigure[kuh]}{Not found}
\stoptext
