Do I need There are two problems here at the same time I think, one in enco-ec.tex and one in your input file. - enco-ec misses a line. Hans, please add this one close to the SS one: \definecharacter ss 255 (have to regenerate formats after that change) - you need \useencoding[win] for ß to map to the right control sequence.
