Hi,

I was wondering if there is a (good) way to have a specific font for sub/superscripts in mathematics that is different from the main font?

I ask because I am working on a variable opentype math font, and it can be made to look a better if the superscripts are made a little bolder.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or examples.

JR

Hi,

are you looking for
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/opentype/spec/features_pt#ssty
?

/Mikael

PS I hate to say that I am hesitant about a variable opentype math
font, but I look forward to be proven wrong.

I am not sure how one would (sensibly) use that opentype feature along with
a change of axis for a variable font.

(Your hesitation for a variable math font is not unwarranted, and might in
the end not be something that works)
