Hi Thomas,

I must confess, I haven’t checked the manual. But why doesn’t it happen
the same with other commands?

    \startTEXpage[offset=1em]
    Default {\tfb Larger} {\tfd Larger 1} \\
    Default \tfb Larger \tfd Larger 2

    \stoptext
