Very funky stuff, accents in ConTeXt. You'd have to dig up in
enco-acc plus the other enco-* files.
\=i becomes \imacron
which by default (enco-def) becomes
\definecharacter imacron {\buildtextaccent\textmacron \dotlessi}
which you can study in enco-ini :)
