Great! This encoding stuff has been of the things that kept me from conTeXt. I think that it would be a good idea to have something in the documentation that explains how it works to LaTeX users, because these typically have a very precise idea of input and output encodings, and this regime stuff might be hard to grasp, although it appears very close to LaTeX's input encodings.
