A usual problem with SuSE is that the old perl scripts are in some /bin directory and don't get overwritten. I deleted them and set symlinks to /context/perltk/*.pl at the same location. Further there's a oldfashioned fmtutil.cnf, where for ConTeXt some *.ini-files are mentioned where should be *.tex. (You may only change the endings, and check if the lines are not commented.)
