Subject: placing figures

Ahoi!
If I use \placefigure[left]{none}{\externalfigure[somepicture]} there's always
a vast space around the image.
For using initial letter pictures (or more like that) I'd like to decrease
that space. But I didn't find the right options, something in
\setupfloats, I guess.
Is it further possible to place this figure at the upper rim of its space
and not centered?
Any hints?
Grüßlis vom Hraban!
