Hello,

I am new to ConTeXt and am setting it up on a Linux (RH7.0) system with
the teTeX distribution. I downloaded cont-tmf.zip from the PRAGMA site
and have followed along the instructions in minstall.pdf. When I get to

texexec --make en nl

(invoked as root), I get:

 TeXExec 1.9 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2000

Have you run texhash (or mktexlsr) before generating the format?

Hello again,

Firstly thanks to David Antos for his help on my previous post: that fixed
one problem.

Again, following the installation manual I have run the command:

texexec --make metafun

with the following result:

 TeXExec 1.9 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2000

error : SetupPath set to unknown path
/usr/share/texmf/tex/base/
fmtutil: no info for format `cont-metafun'.

            executable : pdfetex
             format(s) : metafun

Evidently something is incorrect in the texexec.ini file. Unfortunately, I
don't know exactly what files (or kinds of files) the different variables
in that file should point to. If someone could please provide this
information I'd be most grateful. I give below the result of

texexec --verbose

Thanks,

Roger Mason

Hi,

did you update your lsr?

'texconfig rehash'

should do the trick.

It seems you didn't download a recent version (look at
www.pragma-de.com/context/beta/cont-tmf.zip) or there is an older one on your
system:

> TeXExec 1.9 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2000

texexec is now at 3.2...

You should have a look at Bill's beginner's page (see link at one of my pages
below or at "third" at pragma's) or mine, if you understand german.

Sorry, I meant "2.3", but right is "3.0"...

2. pdfTeX is rather old. Try an 1.0(pre) release.

Hi everybody,

I tried to update pdftex and context on SuSE-Linux 7.0, using the
tetex-version which comes with 7.0. After solving a couple of problems,
there are obviously some left. I hope, the problems exist due to some
path definition and some of you can help:

Running the following small test program

\setupoutput[pdftex]
\starttext
This is a test.
\stoptext

leads to the messages (reduced)
