Sorry if this is answered in a manual somewhere, but I can't seem to find
it. Yes I have tried looking in ALL the docs, but can't seem to find
anything that helps.

I am looking to switch macro package from Latex to Context. Up until now I
have used the

\usepackage{palatino}

to get all pdf files generated using Palatino. This has been working fine.
However if I switch
to Context and try

\showbodyfont[ppl]

I get:

I am using the latest (non-beta) fptex installation on win32 and have
installed just about everything, including all the URW fonts. So what am I
still missing?

if I run tex testfont on the pplr8r etc fonts then I get correct test pdf
files.

Any help would be appreciated, apart from read the manual. I've tried that
can can't find the solution to my problems. I'm by no means a tex expert.

Try:

    \usetypescript[berry][ec] 
    \usetypescript[palatino][ec] 
    \setupbodyfont[palatino]
