I had problems recently navigating the pragma-ade site. I use Slackware Linux
but I also have Win 2000. Unfortunately the browsers haven't kept up with pdf
navigation of sites, except for Internet Explorer. The others I tested,
Konqueror, Opera, Mozilla, Lynx etc. cannot navigate the site because they
use external plugins for interpreting pdf code, and the environment for those
interpreters is local to my computer and not to pragma-ade.nl. (Lynx of
course doesn't have pdf facilities at all.)

It is possible to navigate through many Context pdf pages using the forward
and back buttons as suggested by Hans but this facility is not universal.

Formerly the pages gave a choice between html navigation and pdf navigation.
If it is not feasible to restore this dual pattern then perhaps we need to
find another solution. Even Windows user often do not want to use IE on line
because of security reasons. And of course many present/potential Context
users may have Linux or OS X as their base systems.

If a change is made in this direction I would be happy to run my various
browsers against the Pragma site to make sure everything works as expected.

Hi John,

Please do this:

1. goto http://www.pragma-ade.com (html page)
2. click on 'about' link (top menu, opens new html page)
3. Now you can navigate using 'previous' and 'next' links (right bottom)
4. idem for the main links 'overview', 'download', 'links', 'documents'

This is not what you want?

Greetings, Taco

As far as I can see, everything on www.pragma-ade.com is html except,
of course, for the manuals. I don't see what is difficult about using
the site. If people can't load PDFs in their browsers, they can
always download the files and load them offline in their PDF reader of
choice. Loading PDFs in IE and Mozilla-based browsers should be
trivial anyway. As far as the "forward and back buttons" not working,
I'm running both Firefox and IE, and both seem fine. I'm sure
Konqueror must be fine as well.

Regards,

Matt

As usual, Taco to the rescue. It is not self-evident that one must go to the
About button first. I was going directly to some of the other buttons along
the bar. Now following the above instruction everything works perfectly of
course.

If you remember the previous home page it had distinct and labelled anchors
for html navigation versus pdf navigation.

When I refer people to the page I will need to mention the requirement to
select "About" first when navigating via html (as many of us have to.)

Thanks,

John Culleton

I still didn't fully understand. It is only the Showcase button that one must
be wary of. That takes you to PDF navigation. Live and learn :)
