Right, I didn't test it before :-) On my machine, it works if I use the following configuration: 1. Copy dvipng to the minimals' bin dir. 2. export PATH=/path/to/the/minimals/bin:$PATH and only that (no setuptex) 3. export TEXFONTMAPS=/path/to/texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/dvips Note point 2: the only setting you need for ConTeXt to DVI to work is the PATH; I didn't try with setuptex but I strongly suspect that you would have problems. Or, maybe not :-) Of course, you can experiment around that base configuration (maybe you don't need to copy dvipng at all, etc.).
