Hello,
I know that footnotes have been rewritten.
Now, \autoinsertnextspace is ignored.

Minimal example:
\setupfootnotes [next=\autoinsertnextspace]
%\setupnote [footnote] [next=\autoinsertnextspace] % same as above...
\starttext
\input tufte
\startfootnote
This is a footnote.
\stopfootnote
\input ward
\stoptext
