Hi, all.
I try to place a row number into the first column of my table.
I tried:
\definecounter[rownum][way=bytext,prefix=no]
\setcounter[rownum][0]
\starttext
\startxtable
\startxrow
\startxcell
\incrementcounter[rownum]
\rawcounter[rownum]
\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
\startxcell
\incrementcounter[rownum]
\rawcounter[rownum]
\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
\startxcell
\incrementcounter[rownum]
\rawcounter[rownum]
\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\stopxtable
And got:
7
8
9
If i place \setcounter[rownum][0] right after \startxtable, then i got:
1
2
3
Is this normal?
I tried:
\newcount\rownumd
\rownumd = 0
\starttext
\startxtable
\startxrow
\startxcell
\advance\rownumd by 1
\the\rownumd
\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
\startxcell
\advance\rownumd by 1
\the\rownumd
\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
\startxcell
\advance\rownumd by 1
\the\rownumd
\stopxcell
\stopxrow
\stopxtable
And got:
1
1
1
Can anybody help?

Yes, to fix it use
\startxcell
\doifelsemode{*trialtypesetting}
{0}
{\incrementcounter[rownum]%
\convertedcounter[rownum]}
\stopxcell

It seems that reseting once at table start is simpler, isn't it :-)?
What is the difference between \rawcounter and \convertedcounter?
\rawcounter give me the plain number as i want.
What's about \newcount&\advance variant? Why it not work?

Try your method with natural table or tabulate and it won't work anymore.
> What is the difference between \rawcounter and \convertedcounter?
> \rawcounter give me the plain number as i want.
In this case there is no difference but I suggest to use \rawcounter
only when you need
the value of the counter, e.g. counter>... or counter=...
With \convertedcounter you have always the option to change the style of
the value,
e.g. number conversion, prefixes etc.
> What's about \newcount&\advance variant? Why it not work?
Short answer: expansion
You're using advance in a place where it is just ignored, there are ways
to get rid
of these limitations with Luametatex but it's better to use
\incrementcounter.
Wolfgang

Dear ConTeXt fellows,
With ConTeXT ConTeXt Process Management 1.03
current version: 2020.09.20, I encounter some issue with italics in the
title of bibliographical references (I use a Jabref file along with
ConTeXt). The title of books should be in italics, but it appears right
now in the regular face. Do you have any idea of what it may be the
origin of this problem ? Maybe it is within Jabref configuration that I
can solve this issue ? (see attached file).
Thank you very much.

Dear JP,
it's quite impossible to tell without knowing more about your
configuration, jabref file, etc.

just looking at the PDF (knowing nothing about bibliographies), I can't see
any italics in the text, so the first thought is: is the italics font setup
correct? I would try italics in the main text or using context default
font. You can try \enabletrackers[publications.*] and
\enabletrackers[fonts.*] to see in log what's going on. If it doesn't help
a minimal working example is needed.
Regards,
Jano

It is a font setup problem. Remove your font definitions and fallbacks and
change \setupbodyfont[mainface] to \setupbodyfont[dejavu] for the start (it
will cover greek and cyryllic, too).
Can you describe what you need? Are the requirements given (main font,
scripts, serif & sans, fallbacks fonts to other scripts)?
For example IBM Plex <https://www.ibm.com/plex/languages/> will cover most
of what you need (except cjk for now) and there is a font definition file
type-imp-plex.mkiv in the distribution (not all fallbacks defined, yet).

Jano

Thanks Jano ! It works, but I have overfull box warnings in the log file
with italics, as :
Overfull \hbox (7.80241pt too wide) in paragraph at lines 178--179
<1: DejaVuSerif @ 12.0pt> sciences (<12: DejaVuSerif-Italic @ 12.0pt>
phi-lo-so-phia mar-ga-ri-ta<1: DejaVuSerif @ 12.0pt> ), voire même comme
une <12: DejaVuSerif-Italic @ 12.0pt> sa-gesse<1: DejaVuSerif @ 12.0pt>
I am currently writing a French manual in philosophy. I need French,
German an Ancient greek, arabic, chinese fonts on to achieve this work.
Thanks a lot !
