Ok, that makes sense. And it works, thanks for the explanation and
the quick reply.

That doesn't make sense, inch and mm are different units. I'd rather
add:

  \registerunit
    [inHg=inchmercury]

  \setupunittext
    [en]
    [inchmercury=inHg]
