are you sure that your luatex bin is in sync with the font-otf file?
there has been a change in the ff lib so they really need to be in sync

Is the font cache regenerated? THe new context + luatex
needs new tma/tmc files also.

Yes, it is.
I tested a few fonts and all which fail have "makeotf.lib" in the
version tag.

This won't help, the tma files are empty.
I tried also Minion and Myriad shipped with the Adobe Reader and
these two fonts fails too but the error message is a little bit
different and no tma files are generated.
