A better method is to ignore the endlinechar when typescript files are loaded.
\newcount\savedendlinechar
\starttext
Line 1\crlf
\savedendlinechar\endlinechar \endlinechar\minusone
\switchtobodyfont[pagella]
\endlinechar\savedendlinechar
Line 2
\stoptext
