I had to switch to "\placeinitial", e.g.
Instead of:
% \usemodule[lettrine]
% \setuplettrine[Raise=0.1,FontHook=\darkgrey,TextFont=\tf]
I used:
\setupinitial[color=darkgrey,n=2,voffset=-1.5ex]
and then:
\placeinitial My text …
