produces complexplane.1. How do I include this in my Context document so
that correct fonts will be used. I tried

\placefigure
 [here][complex plane]{The complex plane.}
 {\externalfigure[chap1/complexplane.1]}

but I got a courier font substitution. Yuk! Can anyone help?
