Hans,

I'm stymied! No pun intended:-)

I ran into problems with your source code for the pdftex manual from your
site. This prompted me to visit the Miktex site and upgrade pdftex.

I upgraded pdftex and followed directions for refreshing format files.

I downloaded latest version (not beta) of Context from your site (the usual
one I download every time). I then unzipped the distribution in the normal
manner and built the format files.

If I

texexec --pdf junk2

with

\starttext
Now is the time.!
\stoptext

all is well, the first few lines reporting:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-14e-released-20000217 (MiKTeX 1.20e
(Snapshot build 187)) (preloaded format=cont-en 2000.5.29) 29 MAY 2000 12:56
**&f:/localtexmf/miktex/fmt/cont-en junk2
(junk2.tex{pdftex.cfg}

ConTeXt ver: 2000.5.29 fmt: 2000.5.29 int: english mes: english

Note the version of pdfTeX, precisely the one I downloaded and installed.
However, if I work with the file pdftex-t.tex,

texexec pdftex-t

I am rewarded with

F:\ConTeXt>texexec pdftex-t

 TeXExec 2.1 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2000

            executable : pdftex
                format : f:/localtexmf/miktex/fmt/cont-en
             inputfile : pdftex-t
                output : pdftex
             interface : en
        possible modes : letter,screen
          current mode : all
               TeX run : 1

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-14d (Web2C 7.3.1)
(Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

              run time : 10 seconds

F:\ConTeXt>

Note the version of pdfTeX! What's up with this? Have you seen this before
and can you help?
