BTW, this is m-xypic.tex: 

\input xy

\xyoption{all}

\unprotect

\appendtoks
  \xywithoption{tips}{\let\tipsize@@\bodyfontpoint}%
\to\everybodyfont

\protect \endinput

so loading comes down to:

\usemodule[xypic]

If you can trace down the problem I can add bypasses / fixes or sort it out with Ross Moore,
