\externalfigure[name][width=\textwidth,height=\textheight]
\externalfigure[name][factor=max,width=\textwidth,height=\textheight]
\externalfigure[name][hfactor=max]
etc etc
factors are multiples of bodyfontsize. When set to 'max' (or 'fit' when
used as float) they will scale to the max, but limit the dimensions to the
specified width and/or height. Providing width and height only is ok, but
then you use the aspect ratio.
