Normally you can just fetch the one from our site and unpack it in the
texmf [or texmf-local] tree. The main reason for updating and using latest
versions is that you are up to date with the latest [new and under
construction] metafun stuff or requested features.
There are upto now 4 versions of tex live [a-d].
