compiling a file I get an error message on screen that says:

" I can't find the memfile 'mpost.mem'! "

any ideas where I should look to solve this?

Groet!

Frans

It can be made from texmf/metapost/config/mpost.mp on my system.

Groetjes,

mpost --ini mpost

gives you a mem file

[texexec --make metafun gives you a metafun mem file]

You can always say:

SET MPMEMS=....\web2c

to force a path

Perhaps 'texconfig confall' or 'fmtutil --all' or something like that helps?

(I tinkered so much on my two Linux systems -- SuSE 6.3 and SuSE PPC 6.4 --,
that I can't remember, what made them work.)

It's a format file for metapost. Should be generated by the installed
system (or by texexec).

I send Johannes my file (66840 bytes) which was in $TEXMF/web2c. What
puzzled me was that this file only exists in my local tetex (self
compiled teTeX-beta from February 2000), but not in the SuSE default
(teTeX-1.0.7).

Hi again,

I have reinstalled my whole Linux system to Debian 2.2, and Metapost
won't run out of the box, instead exits with the message "I can't find
file mpost.mem!" This is a file I hadn't possessed with my old
distro, so where can I find that file?

Thanks for input
